Health and Safety Policy

BTIT Consulting is committed to providing a safe and healthy work environment for all employees, contractors, and visitors, both in our offices and at remote locations, including home offices and client premises in New Zealand and overseas. We comply with all relevant New Zealand health and safety laws and regulations and are dedicated to continuously improving our health and safety practices.

Objectives

  • Prevent Injuries and Illness: Minimise the risk of work-related injuries and illnesses through proactive measures and continuous improvement.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with New Zealand health and safety legislation and other relevant standards.
  • Awareness and Training: Promote health and safety awareness and provide appropriate training and resources.
  • Support Remote Work: Address health and safety needs specific to employees working from home or at client premises.

  • Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate health and safety risks.

Policy Statements

  1. Compliance with Legislation
    • Adhere to the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 and other relevant New Zealand regulations.
    • Ensure all health and safety policies and procedures comply with legal requirements.
  2. Health and Safety Responsibilities
    • Management: Provide leadership and resources to implement and maintain effective health and safety systems. Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation.
    • Employees: Take reasonable care of their own health and safety, and that of others. Comply with all health and safety instructions, policies, and procedures.
    • Contractors and Visitors: Comply with BTIT Consulting's health and safety policies and procedures while on our premises or working on our behalf.
  3. Risk Management
    • Conduct regular risk assessments to identify and control potential hazards.
    • Implement measures to eliminate or minimise risks to health and safety.
    • Ensure appropriate emergency procedures are in place and regularly reviewed.
  4. Workplace Safety
    • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment in all BTIT Consulting offices.
    • Provide and maintain safe plant and equipment.
    • Ensure safe use, handling, and storage of hazardous substances.
  5. Remote and Client-Site Work
    • Home Office Safety: Provide guidance and resources to ensure a safe home working environment. Encourage regular workstation assessments to prevent ergonomic issues.
    • Client Premises: Ensure that employees working at client sites comply with both BTIT Consulting and client health and safety policies. Conduct site-specific risk assessments where necessary.
    • Overseas Assignments: Assess health and safety risks associated with international travel and assignments. Provide employees with necessary training and resources to manage these risks.
  6. Training and Education
    • Provide health and safety training to all employees to ensure they understand their roles and responsibilities.
    • Offer additional training for employees working in high-risk environments or undertaking specific tasks.
  7. Incident Reporting and Investigation
    • Encourage prompt reporting of all health and safety incidents, hazards, and near misses.
    • Investigate incidents to identify root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
    • Maintain records of all incidents and actions taken.
  8. Health and Wellbeing
    • Promote initiatives that support the physical and mental wellbeing of our employees.
    • Provide access to employee assistance programmes and mental health resources.
    • Encourage work-life balance and flexible working arrangements.
  9. Monitoring and Review
    • Regularly monitor and review health and safety performance.
    • Conduct internal audits and inspections to ensure compliance and identify improvement opportunities.
    • Update policies and procedures as needed to reflect changes in legislation, industry best practices, and organisational needs.

Implementation and Responsibility

  • The implementation of this policy is the responsibility of all employees at BTIT Consulting.
  • Senior management will lead by example and ensure that health and safety is integrated into all business activities.
  • The Health and Safety Committee will oversee the execution and monitoring of this policy, ensuring continuous improvement.
